Monica Scowen

The funeral service for Monica Ruby Scowen (nee Poole), widow of Bert, who died peacefully at Le Platon Nursing Home, aged 90, was held at St Sampsons Parish Church and was conducted by the Revd Jan Le Billon. Included in the service was a family tribute compiled by Collette, daughter, the Poem, Afterglow by Helen Lowrie Marshall was read by Lynnette Davidson, with the Bible Reading, John 14: 1 - 6, 27 read by Revd Le Billon. The organist, Joan Le Flem, accompanied the singing of Morning has broken, All things bright and beautiful and How great thou art. The service was followed by private cremation.

Mourners were: Collette Scowen, daughter (also representing Paul and Michelle Scowen, son and daughter-in-law (NZ), Hannah Scowen, granddaughter, Christopher Scowen, Tanya and Sophie (grandson, partner and great-granddaughter in NZ), Nikita, Robert and Samuel, grandchildren in Canada and families, Fred Ehrlich, brother-in-law (UK), Peter Thomas, cousin (UK), Eva Collins, cousin (Australia), Doreen and Stephen Smith and family in the UK); Nicola Robinson, niece and Tony Robinson (also representing Peter and Rose Bourgaize and family, John and Joyce Bourgaize (UK), Fun Le Cras and family, Gloria Paremain (UK), Carol and Geoff Pipet and family, Janet Tirotto);

Douglas Scowen, brother-in-law; Carol Scowen, sister-in-law; Mark Scowen, nephew;  Peter Le Page, nephew and Sandra Le Page; Val Brache, niece and Jeff Brache; Jayne Le Page, niece; Roy Martel, nephew-in-law (also representing Tania Archer, niece, in Italy);

Also present were: Ken Le Noury; Lynnette Davidson (also representing Dina, care staff at Le Platon); Andrew Goddard; Mike and Sheila Ingrouille; Bill and Carol Forman (also representing Julie McColl, Paula Tanguy and their families); Karen Quevatre; Dave Brook; Carole Lowe; Caroline and Keith Higgins; Anne Dorey (also representing Jane Mulvey); John West; Lucy Despres (also representing Gillian Kelly and the residents, staff and Directors at Le Platon Home).

Flowers were from Collette, Paul and Michelle, also grandchildren, Hannah and Christopher (NZ), Nikita, Robert and Sam (Canada) and families. Nicola and Tony. Fred.

Donations in lieu of flowers were to be sent to Cardiac Action Group, c/o Phil Le Roy, Treasurer, 8 Lemon Grove, Route Des Jenemies, St. Saviour’s GY7 9QS or to The Pink Ladies, c/o The Treasurer, Casa Mia, The Laurels, Pont Vallant, Vale, GY6 8BX.
