Capt Peter Voute

The funeral service, prior to cremation, for Capt Peter Arthur Voute CBE, husband of the late Marta, who died peacefully at home, aged 85, was held at St Matthew’s Church and was conducted by the Revd Gill Nobes. To begin the service Nimrod was played. During the service Memories of Peter were read by Carina Howitt, daughter, Tricia Voute, daughter, Tristan Howitt, son-in-law and Benjamin Howitt, grandson with Mark Bootherstone, godson, reading from the Bible, Isaiah 43: 1-2 and Romans 8: 37-39, with a adaption from the Lawrence Vaincourt’s poem, Our Country is in Mourning, for a sailor died today, read by Tracy Humphrey, god-daughter. To end the service, The Last Post by Bugler, Matthew Bourgaize RM Rtd., and music by the Band of the HM Royal marines.                      

The organist, George Walker, accompanied the singing of Lead us heavenly Father, lead us, Eternal Father, strong to save and How great thou art. Together with an organ solo, Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by Johann Sebastian Bach.
